Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has joined Illumina’s Board of Directors.
Gottlieb, who resigned from helming the FDA in April 2019, is currently a special partner at venture capital firm, New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and resident fellow at the American Enterprise institute (AEI).
In July last year, he joined Pfizer’s Board of Directors.
“I am excited to welcome Scott to Illumina’s Board of Directors,” said Francis deSouza, CEO of San Diego-based biotech Illumina.
“Illumina will benefit from Scott’s expertise in healthcare and public policy as we work to accelerate the adoption and impact of genomics into the standard of care in oncology, reproductive health and other clinical areas.”
