In brief: Abbott names new president

Chicago healthcare company Abbott has named Robert B. Ford as its new President and Chief Operating Officer.

Mr Ford is a 22-year veteran of Abbot having most recently been Executive Vice President of Abbott’s largest business, Medical Devices.

In addition to his current responsibilities, Mr Ford will also be assumed responsibilities for all of Abbott’s operating businesses.

He will continue to report to Miles D. White, Abbott’s Chairman of the Board and CEO.

Mr White said: “Robert is a strong leader who consistently demonstrates Abbott’s successful management philosophy and strategy and has a successful track record of delivering business results.”
